Why Do We Need to Watch Our Mouth?

I often struggled when watching what comes out from my mouth every day like 'stupid', 'fool', 'palui' or 'sial'. You see, I'm not exactly the type of people who likes to curse like saying the 'F' word when I am angry or anything but believe me, back then, I was way worse than these days. That particular word I used to speak made my family sick and I was lectured intensely by them. And yeah, my Dad could have slapped me if he wanted to. But that was waaay back then. I'm not that girl anymore. But somehow, I can really feel the annoyance when the young teenagers nowadays that curse and say the words that they should not when emotion took their place. It is even worse when they say it like it is not a big deal as they are joking to one another. Believe me, it is a big deal.

Matthew 15:11
What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

My Facebook home page are filled with every day youngsters cursing each other. What had happened to the youths? The generation that God seeks to be His missionary to speak the gospel and the good news? Yeah, I was once one of them and I stopped because of my family and yeah, because of God. So, for the people out there, they should be warned how big of a deal it is to say every foul word that they could think of. I feel so blessed that my friends are really watching their mouth now. Of course it is hard since you have said those words for a long time and suddenly you wanted to stop. Of course you may say them accidentally but it is a big leap for my friends asking for each other's help whenever they speak in an inappropriate way. Like my friend, Ernie.. she asked me that whenever she says those words, I must ask her to give me 20 cent as a compound. Hahaha! Ququ and May are also watching their mouth now. I should salute them!

Psalm 141:3
Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.

Proverbs 21:23
Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.
